It’s so hard for me to find raw almond butter in stores. When I do, it usually contains a lot of unnecessary additives. It’s also expensive! I prefer to make my own raw almond butter at home with just one main ingredient! It’s so easy and so much cheaper. All you need is a food processor and a bag of raw almonds.
There are so many uses for this delicious raw almond butter. I love to eat it on fruit, sandwiches, or crackers. It’s also a great addition to smoothies, raw sauces, and raw desserts. Check out these raw almond butter cups!
To make this recipe, start by first adding 2 cups of raw almonds to your food processor. Turn it on and let it blend until you have a nice, uniform almond flour.
Now just keep blending, stopping every so often to scrape down the sides. You want to keep blending until the almonds begin to release their natural oils. This portion of the process is going to take the most time. Just be patient!
After a while, the almond flour will begin to stick together. Don’t give up now! The magic is just beginning. Keep scraping down the sides, and keep blending, blending, blending.
Eventually, your perseverance will pay off and you will finally have a creamy, smooth almond butter! The longer you let it blend, the creamier it will become. At this stage you can add salt, sweetener, cacao, cinnamon, vanilla, or any other ingredients you want. I like to keep mine simple with just almonds and maybe a pinch of salt.
Raw Almond Butter
- 2 cups raw almonds
- 1/8 tsp salt (optional)
- Add almonds to food processor and blend for about 15-20 minutes, until a smooth butter forms. Stop the food processor frequently to scrape down the sides of the bowl and to let the almond butter cool down.
- Add desired amount of salt or other ingredients for flavoring (optional).
